How the national scheme works
Register the número de registo de Alojamento Local (AL) by mera comunicação prévia through the Balcão Único Eletrónico / Balcão do Empreendedor.

- The city council may oppose within 10 days, or 20 days for hostels.
- Obligations include insurance, reporting data changes and guest reporting (SEF/AIMA).

Under Regulation (EU) 2024/1028, since 20 May 2026 platforms must collect, display and periodically verify registration numbers and share activity data with authorities. Unregistered listings can be removed.
