Ireland’s national short-term letting register, run by Fáilte Ireland, takes effect on 1 December 2026; all providers must be registered by 31 December 2026.

How the national scheme works
Fáilte Ireland will operate the national register and issue a unique registration number per unit. The scheme covers lets of up to 21 nights, nationwide, and implements Regulation (EU) 2024/1028.

- The registration number must be displayed on every listing and advertisement.
- Platforms must display valid numbers and can be ordered to remove non-compliant listings.
EU rules in force since 20 May 2026
Under Regulation (EU) 2024/1028, since 20 May 2026 platforms must collect, display and periodically verify registration numbers and share activity data with authorities. Unregistered listings can be removed.
